Yarn washing and care instructions

With the right washing and care instructions, you can make your woven products withstand time, wear and tear and keep their color longer. The products remain soft and pleasant to use.

Wool socks are often washed too hot and dried in the dryer. As the name suggests, wool socks have wool that cannot withstand high temperatures. At the temperatures of the tumble dryer, woolen socks will quickly shrivel and lose their elasticity. The most ideal would be to wash all woven products by hand, but the hectic and busy world does not always favor this ideal.

How should the products be washed and maintained?

Wool socks with 75% wool and 25% polyamide can withstand machine washing. A temperature of 40 degrees is quite sufficient. A hotter washing temperature is pointless, and often enough for wool socks, just ventilation is enough because the good property of wool is precisely its resistance to dirt.

For care and maintenance of woolen clothes, ventilation in the fresh outdoor air is often sufficient. For machine-washable wool and wool-blend yarns, it is recommended to use a gentle washing program intended for woolen clothes. As a detergent, it is recommended to use a liquid detergent designed for woolen clothes. When washing woolen clothes by hand, take care of proper rinsing. Use water quickly. Never dry woolen clothes in direct sunlight. The sun makes the wool brittle and fades the colors.

Products made of acrylic yarn are washed gently, using a 30-40 degree wool washing program. The dryer is avoided and the acrylic does not need to be ironed.

The good properties of acrylic are its softness and fluffiness, as well as its pleasant feel and appearance. Acrylic is also light and dries quickly and is easy to clean. The price is often cheaper than wool. The disadvantages of acrylic are its electrification and pilling.

Pimpling can be reduced by treating the surface of the acrylic product with a pucker remover from time to time, and electricity is reduced by using the right detergent. There are many gimmicks for removing electricity, but let's mention one of them here. Spray the acrylic with a mixture of water and fabric softener. Put about 2 dl of water in the spray bottle and add a tablespoon of fabric softener. Mix well and spray on the garment.

Cotton is a natural material that is breathable, durable and versatile. But like other natural materials, cotton shrinks at high temperatures. Colors may also fade if too high a washing temperature is used. Wash cotton products at a temperature of 30-40 degrees and avoid tumble drying. Shape the product slightly damp and let it air dry, avoiding direct sunlight.
